Black History Month Content Collection
February is Black History Month.
In the birth month of Abraham Lincoln — the President who facilitated the emancipation of the slaves, and leading abolitionist Frederick Douglass, America pays close attention to the history of people of African descent in the United States — from their arrival as slaves, through the Civil War, emancipation and the Civil Rights Movement. We learn lessons from the past and consider the contribution of African Americans of the past and present to the formation of modern society.
See videos, news stories, classroom activities, and historic and contemporary interactive maps relating to significant Black History events, collected together in one section for your ease of use.
